Acutance Scientific Privacy Policy and Notice of Compliance

Acutance Scientific Ltd (the “data controller”) takes the privacy of your personal information very seriously and is committed to safeguarding your privacy and your personal information, complying with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003.

Here we list how Acutance Scientific Ltd holds and processes personal data. Acutance Scientific Ltd is committed to ensuring that personal data in our possession is protected. Information by which you can be identified will only be used and processed in accordance with this policy.

Collection and Processing of Personal Data

We may collect and process personal data such as:
• Your name, university, institute or company, job title, your professional contact information;
• Notes of any discussion between us
• often in the case that we are discussing your research interests and where you are evaluating specification or performance of our products
• possible future product development roadmaps
• support by use of funding applications

We do not:
• Place cookies or trackers on your PC
• Identify your IP address, browser or location
• Do any online tracking
• Send automated mailshots or collect personal data for that purpose

Information we collect is for the purpose of
• Fulfilling orders placed by you
• Discussing specifications of product in relation to scientific research objectives
• Market Research

Period of Data Retention

We will retain your personal data during any extended discussions with you (for instance to support your funding applications, to fulfil an order placed on us by you, to give you information you need to evaluate the suitability of our product for your research needs, etc.). In addition, we will retain personal data where we have commercial obligations to you or your institute, or legal or tax obligations. We periodically review contacts on a rolling basis. Those with whom we have not had active (2-way) discussions for a period of 36 months are deleted providing we have no legal, tax or commercial obligations in respect of that data. This excludes direct email exchanges (dialogues). Email exchanges are kept for a period of 7 years.
Legal contracts containing personal details (particularly signatoiries/wirnesses) are kept in perpetuity. We do not collect any website data.

Security of personal data

Personal data that we store, with the exception of email clients, is encrypted. Any data kept off-site is kept on end-to-end encrypted, zero-knowledge cloud in Switzerland.

Your rights as an individual

GDPR provides individuals with extensive rights in relation to the collection, retention, and processing of personal data.
You have the right to be informed of the processing of your personal data and this privacy notice is in general compliance of that right.
You can request your personal information is corrected and we will update the details and inform you when completed, free of charge by contacting us directly at the contact details below.
You can request correction of your personal data. You can object to your data being processed and we will stop processing your data provided it is not (any longer) needed by us for the performance of our contractual or legal obligations. We do this except for keeping the minimal personal details for the sole purpose of ensuring that we do not contact you again.
We do not do any automated/mass mailing but you can object to receiving any direct communications from us and we will stop communications as requested.
Although you have rights related to automated decision-making and profiling, Acutance does not do either of these.
You can lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner Office (www.ico.org.uk).

Third Parties.

Where we are discussing with you the supply of product necessarily involving a third party we may share your personal data with that third party. Such cases are overwhelmingly for the purposes of:
• Providing you with a personalised quotation (in which the third party is contractually involved)
• 3-way technical/scientific discussions
• Putting you in touch with a third party who may be helpful to you (only with your consent).

We never sell, distribute, loan or otherwise distribute your personal data to third parties unless we have your permission to do so, or if we are required by law to do so.
